A Dark Past: Snjorrir Challenge

Ardelon shifted restlessly in his stall. He was away from that world, those battles but as he slept the memories returned, feeling as though he was right there again.

In the beginning he wasn’t quite sure what he had been born into. Everything was strange, cold the smell of blood was all around. It scared him, So much that he would lash out and bite. Instead of fear they saw potential in a war horse.  His training was hard. He didn’t want this non of this. He fought back. They sought to try and channel this ‘aggression’ to the enemy. Why? Why was this happening. Eventually He gave in. He became the battle horse they wanted. Charging blind into the fray and returning if he could. Time after time he charge into battle. Each time he returned his mind grew more damaged. So many where dying, he didn’t care if the where good or bad they where still losing there life.

His mind was slowly breaking. When not in battle he stood staring at the ground, trying to cope with what he saw. Battle after battle he charged, those he had gotten to know falling, dying in bloody dirt. Left there to suffer. It was to much. He tried his best to keep his rider alive, he didn’t let him die on purpose. But that opportunity came and he took it.  As his riders fingers let the rains fall, his body falling from the saddle. Ardelon didn’t look back, he couldn’t. He ran, galloping as fast as he could. He didn’t stop.

The rebellion happened to snag him. He fought at first, not wanting to return to the battles, he couldn’t return to them. But no. there where no battles. They travelled somewhere, there was no more sent of battle, no more feel of death. What was this strange world? This world he now found himself as he awoke from those nightmares.
