A Dark Past: Snjorrir Challenge

Sky Ghost. Many referred to them as that, on both the shadowvalian army the rebel force. Ueiss and his ride have killed thousands. Riding in like a stealth force killing and almost vanishing. The two where a deadly team, Ueiss fiercely fought in battle. Charging with a force that rocked the earth beneath them. They rarely left anyone alive. Ueiss didn’t care what he was doing, who he was killing. If they resisted, fought against him or just plain got in his way, there wouldn’t be much left.

In battle if his rider was injured he would keep fighting to get him to safety, so the two could then battle later. But it was rare for his ride to ever be injured while on his back. They spent years killing and destroying villages. Getting honours among the shadowvalian army. They where such a nescience to the rebels that one of the biggest objectives was to kill the sky ghost.

Ueiss and Kaidral rode silent like the ghost they are named for. They had been assigned to attack a small village and destroyed it while most of the solders from it where gone. It seemed a bit odd for them to be assigned something so simple and unneeded when they could just kill the soldiers from it. Non the less the two fallowed throw with there orders. Just as sunset had begone they attacked. The village had several woman, children and weaker men. The fight wasn’t a battle at all, it was a massacre. The two killed everyone right down to the smallest child. They really where ghosts, with no remorse for what they had done. To make certain no one was left alive Kaidral took a flame and took to setting a fire to every building. His instinct was right as screams could be heard from some of the buildings, people unable to escape the flames. Ueiss and Kaidral walked through the flamed village. The flames grew larger as the teased it, staying to listen for any last signs of death.  

The Sky turned dark, stars scattered on the darkness. It seemed as though a typical occurrence after they had massacred a village,  clear skies so every star could be seen only obscured by the smoke caused by their destruction.  They took a spot on some cliffs to watch there masterpiece burn. Staying for several hours watching the buildings crumble to pieces. The spot they picked giving them a good few if anyone happened to be still alive and able to escape the flames. “Well done boy. This one was a little to relaxing though.” Kaidral spoke as he pet his neck. Ueiss snorted and shook his head in agreeance. It was all a little too easy. Ueiss sniffed at the air, feeling as though something wasn’t right. The smell of smoke and some sorta strong substance burning from the village making it hard to smell anything. “Lets head back and see if there is anything else for us to do ... im bored.” Kaidral said as he pulled the reins and turned Ueiss for home.

Uiess walked calmly along the cliff and through the mountainy area. His ears flicked around trying to listen for anything that could threaten them. What ever that substance was that was burring travailed far, still blocking his smell. That was it! This hadn’t been a mission, it was a double cross! Ueiss figured it all out. They had been sold out to the rebels, by some jealous soldiers . He clued in to late as arrows aimed to kill flew at them. By some luck the arrow aimed for Ueiss head hit the metal on his bridle bounding off as it was deflected. He quickly looked back at Kaidral as his body started to fall from the saddle. He hit the ground unmoving. An Arrow directly in his heart. Ueiss moved over him, listening for any sign of life. There was nothing. He had failed his rider. The rebels soon descended upon him, blocking of any escape. If there had been a hint of life in his rider he would have fought. But there was nothing. There was no point in fighting now. He really didn’t care. What’s done is done. He stood there unmoving, showing no sign of resisting them. This is what saved his life. The rebels thought and talked among them selves for a moment. They had wanted the Sky ghost dead but maybe it was. And the Sky ghost being the pair not a single. Now with out his rider the Sky ghost was just a horse.  The decision was made to spare him, with his rare colour and the breeds growing popularity in that other world maybe he could be used for something there. The sky ghost was no more. Only Ueiss was left. And now faced a new challenge.
